Ready to launch your CDL career without the financial stress? DriveCo has partnered with the Adult Literacy Program under The Center for Workforce Innovations (CWI) to create an exciting new opportunity for aspiring commercial drivers.
This project kicked off with our first integrated CDL training program, opening doors for individuals ready to build a successful career with their CDL. DriveCo and the Adult Literacy Program developed this CDL Enhancement program to meet Indiana’s growing need for qualified truck drivers.
What makes this program special is simple: The Adult Literacy Program provides quality training at no cost to qualified students, removing the financial barriers for qualified students.
Addressing Indiana’s Truck Driver Shortage
The partnership with the Adult Literacy Program is working to tackle the challenge of the truck driver shortage head-on, combining DriveCo’s three decades of training expertise with this new grant opportunity offered by The Center for Workforce Innovations.
DriveCo brings proven results to this partnership, having trained transportation professionals since 1990. DriveCo’s state-licensed program delivers 160 hours of quality CDL A training in as little as 4 weeks.
Here’s what makes this partnership work for students:
- No experience needed to start
- Training at DriveCo’s Gary campus
- Experienced instructors committed to your success
The CDL Enhancement Program begins with a two-week adult literacy course that helps incoming students prepare for the requirements and testing aspects of earning your CDL. This includes:
- Practice tests
- Reviewing permit tests
- Pre-trip inspections
- Strategies to succeeding in earning your CDL.
This path to earning a CDL starts with the Adult Literacy Program. It’s a 10-day, 30-hour course that lasts two weeks where attendance is taken. Students must attend the whole two week course in order to be eligible for the grant-funded CDL training provided through DriveCo and the Adult Literacy Program.
Our collaboration with the CWI creates something important: a clear path into commercial driving for people who want stable careers. By removing financial barriers through government partnerships, we help qualified students launch their CDL careers without the upfront costs that often stand in their way.
