A Career with Swift Transportation
Swift Transportation is one of the largest trucking companies in the industry today. They provide entry-level truck driving jobs to our Class A CDL graduates through our partnership at our Indianapolis location. Swift has several professional truck driving career options, with most being regional, dedicated, and OTR. Through our partnership, Swift offers student’s tuition reimbursement and sponsored training.
Swift’s provides drivers with late-model Freightliner, Kenworth, International, and Volvo trucks. Almost all of Swift’s trucks are less than 5 years old. Therefore, drivers are able to get better fuel efficiency and increase productivity on their routes. The trucks are also more comfortable, and the equipment is easier to use with newer technology as well. Most trucks are also equipped with refrigerators, therefore drivers can keep their own food and drinks on hand during long hauls.
Truck Driver Pay
Swift pays their employees based on the type of freight they haul, the length of their route, and experience level. Swift uses a sliding pay scale for drivers that is based on experience and miles driven. This means the more you drive, the more you are paid.
Swift Transportation understands the importance of taking care of yourself, but also many drivers want to take care of their families as well. Swift has created a customizable list of benefits where you can build the benefit plan that best suits your lifestyle. Swift has also recently partnered with Southern New Hampshire University to offer drivers an online degree program. Employees are now able to earn a degree while continuing their current jobs as professional truck drivers.
Some of Swift’s benefits include:
- Medical/Dental/Vision Plans
- 401(k) Plans
- Employee assistance programs
- Employee stock purchase program
Swift has a mentorship program for new drivers that are just beginning their careers. Swift pairs new drivers with a mentor to ride with for a period of time. Mentees will help deliver loads and gain valuable behind-the-wheel experience. Mentors will help guide the new drivers to become quality, skilled Swift drivers. After that, mentees can begin their own trucking careers with Swift and get out on the road by themselves.
